Description:
We are a youth agency, serving girls 5-17 years of age. Our goal is to provide a safe place where girls can experience the great outdoors.

Studies of outdoor education programs show a clear therapeutic value for children. Free play in natural areas enhances children's cognitive flexibility, problem solving abilities, creativity, self esteem and self discipline.

History:
Camp Merrie Woode is the oldest continually running Girl Scout Camp in Michigan. Established in 1926 thousands of girls and women have benefited by being a part of the camps history.

In October of 2009 the Glowing Embers Girl Scout Council merged with five other councils to form Girl Scouts Heart of Michigan. Merrie Woode is now one of six camps operated by the new council. We are very excited by the new opportunities this opens to our members.
