A.C.E.E.is a nonprofit therapeutic riding program. A.C.E.E. relies on volunteers to assist students with special needs in realizing their dreams of horseback riding. Volunteers are needed in many areas of the program. Examples of volunteer duties are: Leading horses, assisting riders, grooming horses, and helping with fundraising. The main sessions are held at Camp Kidwell (Southwest of Gobles, MI)
History:
A.C.E.E. was founded in 1975 as one of the first Therapeutic Riding Programs in the Nation. It operated until the early 1980’s . A.C.E.E. was re-established in 1995. A.C.E.E. has served many individual riders from Allegan, Kalamazoo, and VanBuren Counties. Riders age from 3-58 years. Challenged individuals include, but are not limited to, the following: Emotionally Disabled, Mentally Disabled, Visually Disabled, Hearing Disabled, ADD, ADHD, Autistic, Cerebral palsy, Learning Disabilities, Muscular Dystrophy, and various Syndromes.
