ACUW is pleased to announce it will soon be breaking ground on its new Community Victory Garden to be located in the lot just west of the ACUW offices at 650 Grand St. in Allegan. The purpose of the community victory Garden Project is to provide Allegan residents with the space and opportunity to grow their own fresh produce thereby lowering their monthly food bills. In addition, plots will be made available to area youth and service groups as a educational opportunity. These groups can either donate the produce they grow to local food pantries or sell it onsite to raise funds for their programs.
There will be a one-time $15 seasonal fee assessed per 20'x20' plot to help defray water costs. Non-profit and service groups are exempt from this fee. Registration begins May 15. Please contact ACUW at 269-673-6545 x 13 for a registration form or more information.
Volunteers are still needed to help coordinate the project and serve on the organizational committee. Green thumbs are of course appreciated, however anyone with an interest to serve is most welcome. Committee members will also be exempt from the seasonal fee. |
