The Cambodian Development Foundation(CDF) is non-profit organization dedicate to the education and well being of children, young adults, and women low-income families.

The corporation is organized exclusively for educational and charitable purposes. CDF is registered under the 501(c)(3) section of the Internal Revenue Code. Membership is open to all persons who are willing to support the purposes of the corporation.

CDF supports the community by providing:

  • Information referral;
  • Cambodian classes for those who want to learn how to read and write the Cambodian language;
  • Cooking class;
  • Counseling and Peer Pressure;
  • Conflict resolution sessions for children and parents.

Calling people together to interact with each other, to share their cultural background differences and their skills. Teaching them how to adapt to a new culture, and to improve language skills enables the participants to acquire gainful employment and allows for eventual full and successful integration into the community neighborhood (the multi-culture) in which they now live.

History:
Cambodian Development Foundation is derived from Cambodian Children's Association, Inc. and Khmer Women Alliance Foundation from MN. We merged together in January 2007 to extend ourselve abroad.
CDF is multi-cultural as an organization. American-born friends of refugees and immigrants serve as both our Board members and our Program advisors. All are volunteers.

CDF's Board and program advisors have met many refugees and immigrants in the Washington Metropolitan area, who need a support community of friends and teachers, who will help them adapt to a multi-cultural American Community.

CDF is currently funded by donations and fund-raising events. The Board and program advisors, by decisions made together, manage all of its funds.

The president of CDF, and the program advisor will manage the grant with the help of the CDF Board and volunteer staffs. The work of CDF is a team effort. This volunteer team has a full time job but after work hour and weekend help community in needs.

CDF's team leaders speak English, French, Cambodian, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai, and Laotian.

CDF's team volunteers help in the community one on one, and help to implement CDF's group programs, as needed.
