Book Repair Volunteer Community Volunteer Network Opportunities Weekday Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 8, 2009

The Arlington Public Library provides access to information, creates connections among people and promotes reading and culture--for every Arlingtonian and other patrons. You are invited to join our group of 150+ volunteers and help us meet our mission. You can make a big difference in the quality of library service in your community. Library volunteers share their time and talents in many ways. Whether you are interested in working with the public or behind the scenes, in making a weekly commitment or working on a short-term project, we have a number of positions to choose from. Plus, we train. We hope to help you acquire new skills and work experience, and to feel appreciated for the contributions you make.

Currently, we are looking for people interested in repairing books. It's not surprising that the books at the library are heavily used. To be good stewards of our collection, we try to repair them rather than buy new copies. We need a volunteer to make those repairs. Ideally, someone could volunteer three hours a week during the regular work day.

To volunteer, click on the link for the application. https://www.arlingtonva.us/Departments/Libraries/support/LibrariesVolForm.htm
The volunteer coordinator will review your application and get back to you. You can generally expect to hear back from her within 5 business days of submitting your application.

We need someone who likes working with their hands. We prefer someone with experience repairing books.
