This corporation was formed is to provide counseling and legal services to the indigent and needy, to ascertain that the rights and privileges of the individual are recognized and protected regardless of ability to pay, to develop a keener appreciation and better understanding of the law and the administration of justice, and to serve low-income persons by guaranteeing access to the judicial system.

Description:
Legal Aid provides clients attorney consultations on a variety of legal issues, including family law, guardianship, conservatorship, consumer affairs, end of life planning, landlord-tenant disputes and bankruptcy.

Additionally, Legal Aid prepares the necessary paperwork to facilitate clients representing themselves in parental rights, custody, visitation, support, restraining orders, division of assets and debts, divorce or legal separation, guardianship, conservatorship, end of life planning, and evictions.

History:
Legal Aid was formed 50 years ago and has operated legal clinics at the San Bernardino office for 30 years. To better serve the needy of this large county, Legal Aid established satellite clinics hosted twice monthly in Chino, Victorville and Joshua Tree, and once per month in 29 Palms. Volunteers are welcome at all sites. Since client intake is three days per week in San Bernardino and all case files are prepared in San Bernardino, we have the greatest need for volunteers at the San Bernardino office.
