Mission "To join with the community, private industries, and schools to provide stable and caring mentors for the City of San Bernardino youth by providing academic and life skills so that they can become productive members of society."
Description:
Mentoring is a powerful technique that can assist a student to succeed in a variety of ways such as better attendance, changing attitudes towards teachers/peers, and overtime improving their academics.
- Mentors must agree to make a commitment of at least one (1) hour a week for 6 months.
- Mentor must record all hours spent with their mentee and submit their mentoring hours to the Mentoring Office by the end of the month.
- Mentors will be fingerprinted and must successfully pass a background check.
- Mentors must attend an orientation training session prior to meeting with a child.
- All mentors will be matched with children based on compatibility as determined by the coordinator.
- Mentors must be at least 18 years of age or older.
- All mentors must be licensed drivers and must have an insured automobile.
