Volunteer with Higher Achievement

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 18, 2009

Higher Achievement has a variety of volunteer opportunities!

Mentor: Tutor a small group of 5th or 6th grade students in a subject of your choice: Math, Literature, or Seminar. Mentors work with a small group of scholars one evening per week during the school year, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Higher Achievement provides easy-to-use and interactive curricula, as well as ongoing support and training. Mentors bring their enthusiasm and commitment, and serve as positive role models to the scholars.

Buddy Mentor or Alternate Mentor: Interested in mentoring, but can’t commit to every week? Higher Achievement seeks buddy mentors to split the mentoring commitment with someone else. Or be an alternate and come when you can to help out if a mentor is unable to attend Center one day.

Homework Helper: Higher Achievement seeks volunteers to help students complete their homework. Students work on homework between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. Make your own schedule based on your availability.

Special Events: Throughout the year, Higher Achievement hosts special events, and we are always looking for people who can help with the planning and implementation of these events.

Talent Sharing: Have a special interest or talent? Come share what you do or know with our scholars! Talk about your profession at Career Day or teach a skill (chess, music, knitting, indoor volley ball, etc.) during our elective hour!

To Get Involved or for More Information, email volunteerbaltimore@higherachievement.org or call 410-752-7753.
