The Ignatian Volunteer Corps provides men and women, age 50 and over, the opportunity to serve the needs of people who are poor, to work for a more just society and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflectind and praying in the Jesuit Ignatian tradition.

Description:
Our Corps Member Volunteers are matched with Non-Profit Service Site Agencies, who deal with the poor directly. Our Corps Members agree to be under our auspices for 1 yr., working at their assigned Service Site [2] days/wk. They also agree to participate in a Spiritual Development Program, meeting with their Spiritual Reflector once a month to "Reflect" on this work experience. There's also an overnight retreat once a year and monthly meetings with fellow Corps members to build collegiality.

History:
IVC was started 15 years ago by two Jesuit priests, with the goal of helping the poor. It has grown to be over 300 Corps Member Volunteers nationally, volunteering at Service Sites in most of the major metropolitan cities within the USA.
