International Institute of Boston

International Institute is a private, nonprofit human services agency which offers comprehensive services to refugees and immigrants in order to foster their successful integration into the U.S. Resettlement assistance includes job training and placement, small business assistance, legal and social services, English, Citizenship and literacy classes.

History:
The International Institute was founded in 1924 at the time when Boston was receiving a large number of immigrants in proportion to its resident population. Since that time, through all the immigration crises---The Quota Act of 1924, the Great Depression, World War II and its aftermath which brought war refugees to the U.S., and on up to the present, the Institute, with its specialized services, has played a major role in easing and supporting the transition of immigrants and refugees, helping them to adjust to their new life in this country.
