Roxbury Youthworks, Inc. (RYI) works to reduce delinquent behavior and to increase pro-social behavior in at risk young people. We achieve these goals through four mechanisms: spending one-on-one time with youth, providing diverse programming, closely monitoring youth, and holding youth accountable with clear behavioral expectation.
Description:
Roxbury Youthworks, Inc.(RYI) is a community-based nonprofit organization, whose mission is to create healthy families, strong communities, to inspire young men and women to recognize and develop their strengths, and to prepare them to lead independent and self-sufficient lives. We combat the roots of juvenile delinquency in the inner city neighborhoods of Boston by providing innovative support services to court-involved and other youth up to 21 years of age.
History:
RYI has a nineteen-year history of focusing on the needs of youth and their families, many of whom are involved with the justice system, the Department of Social Services, the Department of Mental Health, and or the Department of Youth Services. RYI focuses on helping eradicate fundamental obstacles to the healthy development of youth. RYI knows how important it is for young people to have healthy and encouraging relationships with adults. RYI also knows that it really does "take a village to raise a child" and over our 19 years of service, we play a significant role in that "village" by contributing to community structures and social institutions that are instrumental to human and community development.
