As a unit of the National Park Service, Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site preserves and protects an important aspect of our American cultural and natural heritage. Our specific site presents the home, grounds, and historic design offices of America's premier park designer and the man who shaped the modern profession of landscape architecture. Our site also maintains the Olmsted Archives, an extensive collection of the photographs, plans, and other work product prepared by Olmsted's firm.
History:
Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site was established in 1979 and opened to the public in 1981. It was the location of the landscape architecture firm founded by Frederick Law Olmsted from 1882 through 1979.
