Wellspring Cape Ann Families

Wellspring House Mission Statement

Wellspring is a community of faith, aware that each life touches every other life. Our work and our decisions are therefore guided by the vision of a just society, in which we must care for the earth and her people by using our resources, property and land in a spirit of hospitality. In this spirit we work to meet basic human needs, and participate in social change through the provision of shelter, affordable housing, local economic opportunity and education rooted in community needs.

Description:
Wellspring Cape Ann Families is a community-based program of Wellspring House, Inc. which provides support and education to parents and children living in stressful situations and experiencing isolation. We offer parent and youth mentoring opportunities, family life education, support and education groups, and community activities.

The program is rooted in our belief in the human capacity for growth. It celebrates the value of each individual’s contribution to the learning process and acknowledges the responsibility of local communities to support families. Wellspring Cape Ann Families helps people to heighten their self-esteem, increase their confidence and skills, and to connect to community resources.

History:
Wellspring Cape Ann Families began in 1991 as the Cape Ann Parent Aide Program. The program was initiated as part of Wellspring House, Inc. when a group of community members came together to put in place programs on Cape Ann to prevent child abuse. In the years since, Wellspring Cape Ann Families has developed into a center for families.
