New Vision Organization, Inc.
New Vision Organization is a nonprofit, grassroots organization which advocates for the long-term and soon to be released incarcerated men, women and youth. In addition, as Co-Founder with the National Alliance for Prisoners’ Rights, NVO, in conjunction with advocates, nationwide, works to end all violations of human rights’ within the penal system, nationwide. We stand on our philosophy, that no individual was born bad and when committing a crime, all freedom is taken away and the offender must serve their sentence, although, it should not be, with additional and cruel punishment, once behind the wall. Volunteers assisting the soon to be released individuals, strive to end the high rates of recidivism by research and providing supportive aftercare resources, such as housing, employment, health care, education and other services deemed necessary, to assure productivity and success for the former offender/s of crime.
Description:
We provide services and networking that involve members from the communities, Lawyers, Law Students, Human Service Workers/Students and others, working in unity for enhancement of family reunification, harmonious environment and ultimately, elimination of crime. I have always believed that God created all things to His Perfection. Therefore, if it breaks, it is our responsibility as a whole, to fix it. NVO is working to provide stability and structure for the incarcerated and soon to be released men, women and youth.
History:
New Vision Organization,Inc. is a National Organization, founded in January 2004. As a Social Worker, Leonna began by writing Therapeutic letters to prisoners across the country which proved to be advantageous in so far as, prisoners finally gaining enough trust in someone to begin disclosing information about their internal pains, resulting in the destruction of their own lives as well as the lives of others. She then began communicating with family members of prisoners who needed and appreciated the emotional support given to them. As Leonna became more involved and familiar with prisoners nationwide, she established New Vision Organization.
