Volunteer Title: Reading, Writing, Conversational English and/or Computer Tutor For Union Workers in Classroom Setting
Office & Location: 26 West Street, Boston, MA (near Park Street Station T Stop and Downtown Crossing)
Hours: Weekend program for classroom tutoring/assistance:
Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. (2 hour and 30 minute sessions)
Sundays 12:45 – 3:00 p.m.
Tuesday – Friday from 10 – 12 and 3 - 4:30 on an as need basis for tutoring

Program Description:
This program is committed to building educational advancement opportunities to union members who provide building and maintenance services to the city of Boston. Over 16,000 building service workers are members of the SEIU Local 615 Union. The Voice and Future Fund which is the educational arm of the SEIU Local 615 needs volunteers to work with members both inside and outside of the classroom to improve their conversational English, writing, reading and/or computers skills.

Summary: SEIU Local 615 is a progressive and dynamic union based in Boston with over 16,000 building service workers. We are committed to building power for working people and winning a better life for our members and their families.

Volunteer Description: We are looking for volunteers for the Voice and Future Fund which is the educational arm of the Union. Our main program, the Opportunity program, is a high impact program with intensive services for members committed to educational advancement.

Values: Commitment to progressive social change. Strong interest in labor movement.

Purpose:
• The main purpose of this job is to provide structured time slots for immigrants, with opportunities to learn writing English, practice conversational or acquire new computers skills.

Requirements: Be committed to come to the Union once a week.
