Have you ever thought about taking one lunch hour a week to help a high school student score BIG on the MCAS exam? Do you live or work near Brighton or Allston? Boston Partners in Education and the Boston Community Leadership Academy, a pilot school in Brighton, are looking for people to volunteer once a week, for 90 minutes, to tutor and guide tenth graders in passing the Math and English Language Arts section of the MCAS exam, a requirement for graduation from all Massachusetts public schools. The Boston Partners office is a two minute walk from the Courthouse Station, Silver Line stop. Take the T to the South Station stop on the red line. Transfer to the Silver Line Way outbound, and take the underground bus to Courthouse Station. After getting off the bus, use the escalators to the right to get to the upper level of the station. Proceed to the next set of escalators on the left. After exiting the glass building, walk around to the back of the building and take a right, walking across the parking lot towards Farnsworth Street. Once you reach the edge of the parking lot and the end of Farnsworth Street, you will see a red brick building across the street. This is 44 Farnsworth Street. Take the elevator to the 7th floor and check in with the receptionist.
The schools in which volunteers serve are located in various communities throughout the city.
