The Farm at Long Island Shelter is an organic vegetable and herb farm located on Long Island in Boston Harbor. The Farm helps feed hungry minds and bodies by producing over 30,000 pounds of high quality, first harvest produce for the homeless individuals we serve, and by providing hands-on job training, work-readiness skills, life skills and education for homeless individuals as part of the Serving Ourselves Job Training Program. The Farm needs volunteers from March to December to assist with everything from planting to harvesting. The Farm can accommodate individuals and groups and is a great opportunity for your company's Community Service Day or for your school to get involved. Like to work outdoors This opportunity is sponsored by: Friends Of Boston's Homeless
