Are you interested in community service? Do you want to take a leadership role in your community? The SCI Lynn Citywide Youth Council is looking for new members. If you are a middle school or high school student and live in Lynn, please consider joining the Citywide Youth Council. Applications are available to download as and attachments at scilynn.org, or can be picked up at the SCI Lynn office, located at 52 Andrew Street, Straight Ahead Ministries, Family and Children’s Services, Girls Incorporated of Lynn, and the Greater Lynn YMCA. This is the first year of the SCI Lynn Citywide Youth Council, and we are seeking to engage a diverse group of 12 to 18 year olds who share a desire to make a difference in their community.

The youth council will meet every other week, on a weekday, after school, the exact day and time will be determined by the popular vote of the youth council. Meetings will usually last one hour, and light refreshments will be provided. From February to June, the youth council will lead community service projects and civic engagement projects, including the distribution and management of grants to other youth initiated service projects such as park clean ups and resource fairs . The SCI Lynn Citywide Youth Council also offers an outstanding opportunity to enhance leadership skills through the use of SCI's Civic Skills Checklist that provides a concrete way to build practical skills such as public speaking and event planning.

Volunteers must be between the ages of 12 and 18. Attendance to weekly meetings and special events is required. There will also be a required orientation.
