Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on April 16, 2009

Need an Individual who is 50 yrs. or older [Must be Catholic or Christian, since organization placing you at this site is Catholic], to work 2 days/wk. for 1 yr. [renewable for right person] to work in an outcrop shop of a local Food Shelter with their shop Coordinator to develop their small business in a gentrified neighborhood. Looking for someone to help build systems for bookkeeping, financial accounting, tracking goods that are sold and marketing. The Volunteer would also help them with their retail shop design, updating and and upgrading their signage, researching products, and would help them better communicate with the bakery cafe that supplies most of the items sold. Days are flexible [could work either Tue, Wed., Thur. or Fri., you pick the best 2 days for yourself]. You would work the retail shop for 2 hours and then work in the back office in creating and implementing systems already mentioned above for the balance of his/her time. This is an exciting opportunity for the right person to help the poor [this shop supplies income that helps finance the adjacent Food Pantry]. This shop already is functioning, but needs development to make it grow. This is an ideal Volunteer opportunity that should not be missed! Location is convenient to the Back Bay Station.

Individual must be 50 yrs. or older, willing to volunteer for at least 1 yr, working 2 days/wk. on site. Volunteer must be Catholic/Christian [since this placement is through a Catholic organization] that practises their faith. Must be reliable, flexible, dedicated, innovative, skilled in marketing and business.
