Cooperative Economics for Women seeks a volunteer or intern to assist with its Food Security Program in Revere. The Food Security program focuses on food justice and security, welfare organizing, and economic justice. The program’s central project is the community supported agriculture (CSA) shares in the Van Guarden Farm in Dover, MA. Members of CEW receive fresh vegetables and herbs for over forty families in Revere from May to November. Responsibilities: • Coordinate the community supported agriculture (CSA) program at CEW, including the pick-up and distribution of vegetables to members. • Assist with the development of a food justice curriculum and materials, including nutrition, cooking demonstrations, etc. • Gather and maintain a recipe library. • Work with staff members to integrate food justice education into other CEW program areas.
Qualifications: • Access to reliable transportation to and from farm site in Dover, MA. • Strong interest in social justice, community health, food access and small farm livelihood issues • Ability to work well with diverse populations across race, class, gender, urban/rural divides, immigration status and a desire to (or previous experience) work with low-income community members. • Strong communication and organizational skills • Be flexible with a great sense of humor
