Mission of the organization The mission of Eagle Eye Institute is to empower urban people from low income communities, especially urban youth, to play a positive role caring for our environment. We do this by developing and disseminating innovation program models using the power of Nature to transform the lives of urban youths; maintaining a network of Champions who lead Eagle Eye programs and work to advance our mission; offering training and programming for youth development specialists; and leading programs for urban youth that provide access to hands-on exploratory learning on environmental topics and career bridging to natural resource and environmental fields and other green professions. Our residential internship program provides an experience of sustainable living and an opportunity to practice environmental responsibility, growing and eating organic vegetables, using solar energy, engaging in forest land stewardship and living outdoors in a diverse community. (See www.EagleEyeInstitute.org) Position Description TWO INTERN POSITIONS to assist the marketing and communications team with expanding press/media relations, utilizing social networking and related writing assignments. All content would be consistently reviewed before posted.
- update our media list by contacting all media outlets in our target markets and identifying the key reporter, editor, and address to send general materials to as well as the “green”, environment reporter. The intern would then initiate a positive relationship with that reporter by providing background material and asking for their ideas. As needed the intern would also write pieces to send to the press. The intern would then repeat the process for online and print magazines that would be appropriate for feature stories and work with the Eagle Eye staff to develop at least one feature story that would be pitched.
- help the organization maintain its website current; design, launch and update a blog; create and populate Facebook, MySpace, and Linked In Eagle Eye presences.
