Centro Latino Inc., recently merged with Concilio Hispano, is looking for Volunteers to work in the Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program with our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), Spanish GED and Native Language Literacy departments. We offer 12 hours of training in second language acquisition, adult learning, curriculum approaches, teaching strategies, classroom observation. Spanish Bilingual is preferred but not required. Our most pressing needs for volunteers are in our Chelsea and Cambridge sites for:

 Individual Tutors work with small groups of 2-4 students. Small group tutoring sessions are aimed at reinforcing several courses: GED Spanish preparation, Native Spanish Literacy and our Basic, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). A 2-3 hour a week commitment is optimal to work with small groups of adult learners. Very flexible schedule.
 Classroom assistants work with instructors and students in our Spanish GED preparation, Native Language Literacy class and the Basic, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced levels of English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). The schedule for these classes is:
9 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 6 -9 p.m. Mon.–Thurs. in Chelsea.; 6 -9 p.m Mon. and Wed.
in Cambridge.
