Are you passionate about supporting young people? Want to help make the world a better place? Join us for the Dream It. Do It. Your support and encouragement are needed to help young people realize they are capable of leading positive change in the community.

Boston Dream It. Do It. Challenge Volunteer Opportunities

Dream It. Do It. Challenge Coach
Commitment: 13 weeks, 3 hours/week

Coaches play a critical role in guiding young people through the Challenge, helping facilitate sessions, and mentoring youth through their project plans. Coaches will lead group discussions, direct activities, and work one-on-one with teams of youth. The coach position is extremely rewarding and provides the opportunity to build strong bonds with 6-8 young people as they complete the Challenge. We are seeking enthusiastic, creative, and patient coaches ready to commit to attending all 13 milestones (including an overnight retreat) and actively supporting and engaging a small group of young people.

Guest Speaker (Single Milestone Volunteer Opportunity)
1 hour

Do you have leadership, marketing, financial planning and budgeting, business development, fundraising, or other skills you could share with Challenge participants as they prepare to launch their own social Ventures? Guest speakers are needed to inspire participants and impart their expertise and knowledge. Speakers should be prepared to give a fifteen to thirty minutes presentation during a Milestone that is interesting and engaging to high school students. Dates for guest speakers are fairly flexible.

Community Panelist (Single Milestone Volunteer Opportunity)
1/2 day

The Community Panel is a time to celebrate the work Challenge participants have completed during the Challenge. Serving as a Panelist allows you to see first-hand the projects young people have created to benefit their communities. Panelists will listen to presentations by several teams of young people and evaluate each team’s readiness to launch and receive funding from Youth Venture. We are looking for panelists to participate in a Mock Panel on January 5, 2010 to prepare Teams for the Community Panel and panelists to serve at the Community Panel on January 11, 2010.
Please contact Jessica Shoemaker at Jshoemaker@youthventure.org or call 1-866-923-9863 ext. 5 if you are interested!

What is Youth Venture?
Youth Venture is creating a world where everyone feels powerful enough to create change in their community. We do this by supporting young people through a series of workshops to identify a problem in society, develop their own idea to fix the problem, and providing them with the tools, guidance, and financial support (up to $1,000) to make their dream a reality. Once they launch they are elected into a global community of youth creating positive change.

Anyone who is passionate about working with youth is a perfect fit for Youth Venture. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, have completed high school, and agree to undergo a background check prior to the Challenge.

All volunteers will be provided with training prior to the Challenge.

Please contact Jessica Shoemaker at Jshoemaker@youthventure.org or call 1-866-923-9863 ext. 5 if you are interested!
