The Child Assault Prevention program (CAP) is a curriculum whose main goal is to teach children and communities to reduce vulnerability to threatening and assaultive situations. Through guided discussion and role-plays, teams of trained prevention specialists address bullying, stranger safety and sexual assault by known persons. We focus on three problem solving skills: assertiveness, peer support, and telling a trusted adult. Children learn that they have the right to be SAFE, STRONG and FREE. Potential volunteers must be at least 21 years old, and able to volunteer for six hours per month for one school year, October - May, during school hours. Volunteers must attend and complete all training sessions, totaling 21 - 24 hours. This opportunity is sponsored by: Newton Community Service Centers, Inc.
