Volunteer with Homeless Children!

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on July 7, 2009

Horizons for Homeless Children is seeking volunteers to play with children living in family homeless shelters in the Northeast region of Massachusetts. There are also opportunities across the state. A commitment of 2 hours per week for 6 months is required. Some daytime hours are available but shifts are primarily evening hours. Please call (978) 557-2182 to sign up for a training and to receive an application or visit www.horizonsforhomelesschildren.org to apply online. Trainings are held monthly across the state.

Volunteers must fill out an application (which can also be done on line) and attend a 6 hour Playspace Activity Leader Training. Horizons for Homeless Children will also check 2 references and submit a CORI for each volunteer. We encourage 16 and 17 year old young adults to volunteer but they will need an adult friend or parent to train also and commit to placement with them.

All Playspace Activity Leaders must be at least 18 years old or be 16 years old and accompanied by an adult over the age of 18.
