Elementary Literacy Programs (K-3) Recommended agencies

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 14, 2009

Volunteers work individually or with small groups of children in grades K-3 to improve reading comprehension and writing skills. Some offer one-to-one tutoring for a child deemed "at risk" in literacy. Others volunteer in Writing Workshop, helping students to edit their stories. And still others are engaged in a school's Publishing Center, helping students "publish" the books they have written, creating visually appealing publications for the classroom library.

Volunteers should be available to tutor 45 minutes, once or twice per week and attend monthly training sessions.
