Student Population Our program serves women ranging in age from 18 to 65 years old. Some of the women in the program are current shelter residents while others have been in shelter at some point in their lives and now live in the Dorchester community. The women are racially diverse and most are low-income. Almost all have experienced violence, abuse and/or trauma. Role of a Tutor Develop a lasting relationship with an adult where both tutor and student learn and grow from one another. Tutors work one-on-one with students to provide instruction based on a plan to meet learner’s goals and educational needs. We ask that tutors have an openness to learning from and working with adults from a variety of cultural and educational backgrounds. Reliability, consistency and commitment to learner-centered tutoring are required for a successful student-tutor relationship.
Tutors will be contacted for an interview and orientation. This opportunity is sponsored by: Project Hope
