Parents Aides Needed!

RSS XML FeedBackground Active Jan 20, 2001 to Feb 20, 2001

Cape Ann Families is the family support and education center of Wellspring House. The program is rooted in our belief in the human capacity for growth. It celebrates the value of each individual's contribution to the learning process and acknowledges the responsibility of local communities to support families. Cape Ann Families helps people heighten their self-esteem, increase skills, and connect with community resources.

Parent Aides are volunteers who are matched with families in the community:

  • They provide support by introducing them to local resources, serving as a role model, and engaging in a mutual relationship.
  • Parent Aides do not need to be counselors or social workers, just good listeners and non-judgemental friends.
  • A free 12 hour training is provided as well as professional supervision.
  • The committment required is about 2 hours each week for a period of one year. Many Parent Aides have said they have gotten back as much as they gave and more.
