Eastern Massachusetts Literacy Council

Winner of the Daily Points of Light Award!

We train and support volunteers to provide free tutoring to adult literacy learners, both native English speakers and adults learning the English language. Priority is given to low-income learners. Tutoring is provided one-to-one and in small group settings. Conversation Groups and the use of Computer Labs are also available.

  • Literacy tutors are trained to work one-to-one with adult learners who are trying to improve their literacy skills in order to improve their lives - working to gain better employment, communicate with their children's teachers, talk to their health care providers, attain citizenship, read bedtime stories to their grandchildren, etc.

Please contact Christine Ellersick, Program Director, at (781) 395-2374 or emlc1@aol.com for more information about this volunteer opportunity.
