AIDS Walk BostonVolunteer Opportunities We Need You!! Be a part of history and join us in the 15th annual AIDS Walk Boston!! Your time, energy and talent can make a difference in putting together a successful Walk. June 4th is just around the corner, and we need your help for the big event! Volunteers fill a great need at the Walk. Give us a few hours, or more, a month, and well give you an opportunity to meet great people and to help your community. The following are a list of volunteer opportunities available. For more information on any of these, please call Paul Tonnessen, Walk Volunteer Coordinator, at (617) 450-1561. Office Crew (March-June, day or evening): Be at the heart of it all - assist with work in the Walk office at the AIDS Action Committee. Team Captain (March-June): Start now! Recruit walkers to raise money by forming a team at work, school, church, synagogue - anywhere! Art Crew (March-June, select times): Add color to our life! Build and paint art installations for the Walk route. Promotions Crew (March-June, day or evening): Use your social skills and enthusiasm to promote the Walk at rallies, special events, clubs, and social gathering places. Phone-Bank (March-June, select times): Like to talk on the phone? Call last years walkers and encourage them to raise money and walk again this year. Sandwich Making (Sat. 6/3): Be a chef for a day! Prep, set up, and box food for the volunteers. Logistics ("Muscle Crew"; Sat. 6/3 and Sun. 6/4): Show us your muscle! Pack, unpack, load, unload food, water, tables, chairs, and other equipment for the water stops and the Hatch Shell. Monitors (Sun. 6/4): Obey me! Ensure the safety of walkers along the route by directing them on foot or bike. Green Patrol (Sun. 6/4): Keep it green and clean! Recycle and keep the Walk route clean! Cheerleading (Sun. 6/4): "Give Me An A...!" With high spirited cheers and lots of smiles, thank thousands of walkers as they cross the finish line. Walk Crew (Sun. 6/4): Are you a know-it-all? Provide information and directions to walkers along the route, and at the Hatch Shell. Walk Shuttle (Sun. 6/4): Lend a helping hand. Help walkers who cannot finish the Walk on foot aboard the shuttle vans. After Walk Data Entry (June 6th-30th day or evening): Let your fingers do the typing! Enter pledge sheet information into our databases. Typing skills a must. Database knowledge helpful, but not required. Check Counters (Tues. 6/6, and Wed. 6/7, select shifts): Show us the money by helping to count donations and verify the information on the envelopes completed on the day of the Walk.
