The Cambridge Arts Council presents the Cambridge River Festival, taking place on Saturday, September 11, noon to 6 pm along a mile stretch of the Charles River(rain date: Sunday, Sept. 12).

Over its 22-year history, the River Festival has become the area's largest annual celebration of the arts (over 100,000 attendees) and one of its most beloved traditions. It includes six music stages, two crafts shows, food from around the world, temporary interactive public art installations, lots of hands-on art-making activities for children of all ages, and more.

The festival needs volunteers to work on the day of the festival to help set up the festival site, greet audience and distribute festival brochures, sell tee-shirts and CDs at info booths, assist arts organizations with art-making activities, and help break down the festival site (set up begins at 7 am, festival noon to 6, breakdown 6-8. 3-hour shifts or longer are common). The festival also needs smart, detail-oriented volunteers behind-the-scenes to help out in the office in preparation for the festival, beginning immediately. All volunteers receive a festival tee-shirt and day-of volunteers receive breakfast and/or lunch at the festival site!
