Nami Greater Cleveland
Nami's mission is to empower persons affected by mental illness and their family members to achieve a better quality of life by providing them with mutual support, practical information, referral, advocacy and educational resources.
Description:
Nami (the National alliance on Mental Illness) is the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness and their families. We provide support groups for consumers and their families, educational programs, community presentations, and resources and advocacy. We also provide a Helpline for persons needing information.
History:
Founded in 1979, Nami has become the nation's voice on mental illness, a national organization including Nami organizations in every state and in over 1200 local communities across the country who join together to meet the Nami mission through advocacy, research, support, and education.
