Our mission is to create community based public art that fosters youth development and supports emerging artists,
thereby public art becomes a tool for community engagement in a common spirit,
through urban revitalization and beautification.

We do this by:

*
Fostering youth development through experiential art education, job training and mentorship with professional artists.
*
Supporting artists and artisans in sharing their talents and experiences with youth and communities in Cleveland.
*
Developing sustainable partnerships with community organizations in order to create murals that reflect the community's culture, history, and vision.
*
Using the power of art and the mural design process as tools for community engagement, urban revitalization and beautification.

Description:
Fostering youth development through experiential art education, job training and mentorship with professional artists.

Summer Mural Institute
Building Bridges provides job training to teens through the creation of public art. Each teen participating in the creation of public art is a paid intern, working 150 hours of time over the course of the summer. Currently the job training portion of Building Bridges is limited to the summer months, but is looking for creative ways to expand to a year round program.
Internships are also available for college students looking to gain experience in arts administration.

After School Mentoring Program
The mentoring program runs throughout the school year as a training program for potential mural interns. Artists in residence participate in the mentoring program as positive role models for young emerging artists. In partnership with Community Care Network, the After School Mentoring program offers individualized artistic training to at-risk youth in the greater Cleveland area.
