The Adult Literacy and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program of the Greater Homewood Community Corporation, Inc. provides quality learner-centered instruction to fight illiteracy and help foreign-born residents improve English language skills, thereby increasing adults' abilities to contribute to their families, work places, and communities in the Baltimore metropolitan area.

Description:
The Greater Homewood Adult Literacy and ESOL Program has developed an outstanding reputation as both a literacy volunteer training site and as the largest volunteer tutor program in Baltimore City. Between July 2003 and June 2004, 127 volunteers contributed 3,700 as tutors and Advisory Board members. Our volunteer tutors work to help Baltimore City residents improve their reading, writing, math, and English language skills. In any given year, our program serves between 200-300 adult learners.

History:
Since 1989, Greater Homewood Literacy has provided reading, writing, math, and English language instruction to adults through one-on-one tutoring and small class instruction.
