The Senior Center provides programs such as nutritional meals, fitness, socialization, recreational, etc for senior citizens in Clinton County. These programs get seniors out of the homes so they remain independent longer. The Center is open Mon, Tue, Wed & Fri between 9 am - 3 pm.
Description:
The Center has a fitness room where they can exercise or they participate in instructor run classes three days a week. We provide nutritional meals three days a week for a $2 donation and a public meal on Monday. On a daily basis we provide programs such as cards, games, puzzles, bingo, day trips, entertainment, etc. We also have a Library where they can check out books or tapes and we have a Pool Table for their enjoyment. On Thursday, October 11 the center will hold their Annual Rock-a-Thon. Seniors will collect donations and rock in rocking chairs throughout the day. They will enjoy Bingo, games, crafts and lunch.
History:
The Senior Center was started in 1979. Until 2006 the center operated in a small one-room facility. In 2006 we moved to a facility that is five times the size of the old building. This increased size has allowed us to have a separate dining room, exercise room, library, game room, etc. We serve approximately 110 senior citizens annually. We have one paid staff and utilize volunteers for the remainder of the work.
