The First Tee Of Mid-michigan

Our Mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. Our focus is to provide affordable access for disadvantaged youth who traditionally have not had access to the game of golf.

Description:
The First Tee of Mid-Michigan delivers a program that helps young people discover how character values and life skills essential to success on a golf course can also help them flourish in life. Our program provides a curriculum for instilling in participants The First Tee Nine Core Values - honesty, integrity, respect, sportsmanship, confidence, responsibility, courtesy, perseverance, and judgment - and life skills such as self-management, interpersonal communications, goal setting, mentoring and effective conflict resolution. We offer programs in the Lansing schools and at various youth organizations. We hold spring clinics at the Funtyme Dome and our main facility, the Sycamore Learning Center. This summer we will offer 8 6-week sessions to 300 Lansing area youth.

History:
The First Tee of Mid-Michigan is a recognized chapter of a national non-profit, “World Golf Foundation Inc. – The First Tee.” Incorporated in 2007, last summer (2008)was our first year of operation. Over 100 youth participated in our program.
