The mission of Supporting Teen Opportunities Mentoring Program (STOMP) is to empower at-risk youth in our community to make positive life choices that enable them to maximize their personal potential.

Description:
Supporting Teen Opportunities Mentoring Program is a community-based mentoring program that matches at-risk youth with a caring adult mentor in a one-on-one relationship that lasts one year. The match meets four hours a month, and participate in activities aimed at strengthening their relationship, developing the youth's life skills, and achieving goals that have been set at the beginning of the match.

History:
Supporting Teen Opportunities Mentoring Program is a new mentoring program that focuses on the healthy development of teenagers in Eaton County. It has been running since the beginning of 2009. The program is based on other Michigan State University Extension mentoring programs that are successful throughout the state. Often, collaborations of community service projects and educational activities are coordinated between MSUE mentoring programs. MSUE has been in existence since 1914.
