Our Mission The mission of the Brain Injury Association of Michigan (BIAMI) is to enhance the lives of those affected by brain injury through education, advocacy, research, and local support groups; and to reduce the incidence of brain injury through prevention. Our Vision The Brain Injury Association of Michigan's vision is to be recognized as a strong, viable, voluntary health agency providing leadership on traumatic and acquired brain injury through a broad range of services, and supporting research on brain injury treatment.
Description:
The Brain Injury Association of Michigan is a non-profit organization that brings together people with brain injury, their families, friends, and concerned professionals to improve the quality of life that people experience after brain injury. The Association has five major goals Education, Advocacy, Support, Research and Prevention and is governed by a 15 member Board of Directors from across the state of Michigan.
History:
Nearly 30 years ago, a group of concerned families, living with brain injury founded the Association to ensure that needed services and supports were available for people with brain injuries and their families. Incorporated in 1981, the Association was one of the first state associations chartered by the Brain Injury Association of America. Affiliated groups include local support group chapters throughout Michigan and the Michigan Brain Injury Providers Council.
