C.A.C.S. Head Start and Early Head Start in partnership with the community and families,is dedicated to creating a comprehensive, culturally sensitive, nurturing, safe and healthy learning environment in which children,families and staff are inspired to reach their fullest potential.
Description:
Head Start is a comprehensive preschool developmental program for low income children and their families serving the four county area of Clinton, Eaton, Ingham and Shiawassee counties. Children attend a 3- 1/2 hour session, 4 days per week. In the Early Head Start Program 70 infants and toddlers are served through a center and home based option. Limited transportation is provided. Parents are encouraged to participate in various opportunities available in the program. Volunteers are an important and necessary part of the program and may assist with meeting the needs of children in the classroom.
History:
Capital Area Community Services,Inc., and Head Start have been in operation for over 40 years serving the lower income population of Ingham, Eaton, Clinton and Shiawasee counties. Head Start has relied on volunteers working in the Head Start Programs as well as other aspects of the agency.
