Mothers Against Drunk Driving Victim Services' mission is to provide support to drunk driving victims in all aspects of their life.
Description:
Families of and drunk driving victims are suddenly forced to deal with many traumatic and unexplored events. The role of the victim advocate is to aid them on every level whether it is to assist them in finding community supports to ease the stressers in their life or simply to have a better understanding of the criminal and civil court systems. Our goal is be available on a personal level to provide support and guidance while every individual works their way through the grieving process they may be experiencing. Our agency has many different kinds of materials and literature available, which is geared to help a victim at every stage of grief resolution or with general problem solving.
History:
We are a part of the state office of this national organization, which is geared to educating and stopping drunk driving crashes. The mandate of the Victim Services department, however, is even more clearly defined. Since it's beginning Mothers Against Drunk Driving Victim Services sole function has been to provide a full range of support to victims via telephone (1-800-323-6233 victim support line or by direct contact with the state regional victim advocates in their field offices) and through face to face advocacy and/or court accompaniment.
