Last updated on October 8, 2008

Our mission is to feed mid-Michigan's hungry through a regional network of member agencies and food pantries and to engage our region in the fight to end hunger.

Description:
We are the food bank warehouse. We accept donated food and non-food products from a variety of sources in Michigan and throughout the United States. Volunteers inspect, sort and label all donations before they are made available to our member agencies. The member agencies supply the food to hungry people in there local community.

History:
In 1983, at the request of the Capital Area United Way, the Mid-Michigan Chapter of the American Red Cross initiated a food banking operation called Project Aid for Food. The purpose was to assist the Greater Lansing Food Alliance and other non-profit agencies feeding the hungry in acquiring low-cost or no-cost food. In 1991, the name Project Aid for Food became the American Red Cross Regional Food Distribution Center.
