Last updated on September 5, 2008

Children who participate in the after school, "Creative Connections" art program at Reach Studio thrive on attention from young adult mentors. The program meets Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 3:20 - 6:00, October - May. Mentors are needed to assist the art facilitator by:

  1. ) walking children from nearby Moores Park School to Reach Studio (4 blocks)when school gets out.
  2. )helping individual children as they work on art activities during the program.
  3. )helping with preparation and clean-up.
Children love to have older people (especially young adults)notice their creative efforts and to get one-on-one assistance with difficult tasks. Often working with the children as they create allows them to have a sense of belonging and confidence that they crave.

Volunteers should be outgoing and energetic 16 year olds through adult, who like to be around children. Volunteers should also be willing to walk 4 - 5 blocks in all kinds of weather. Interested volunteers will be asked to fill out an application, supply 2 references (non-related) and sign a Background Check Information release. New volunteers will meet with the director or volunteer coordinator to go over guidelines and responsibilities. Volunteer should also be available to volunteer on a regular basis (weekly or every-other week) through the school year or for a semester.
