This position acts as support and leader for all volunteer sorting activity. The Lead Sort volunteer assists the staff in keeping bins of food full for volunteers sorting and categorizing donations, helps new volunteers learn the sorting process, and keeps the flow of food "recycling" going throughout the morning. The person in this position is often required to lift, move and/or organize completed boxes of sorted food donations for the rest of the volunteers. The position is trained by a staff member through the use of a video and hands-on experience in a job shadow situation. One must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. As this is a leadership position, one needs to get along with all types of people and be able to multi-task. This opportunity is sponsored by: Mid-Michigan Food Bank

The MMFB is located about 1/4 mile east of the Capital City Airport. Travel north on ML King Blvd. to Grand River. Turn left (west) on Grand River. Travel approximately 7 blocks to Remy Rd. Turn right (north) on Remy Rd. Travel 1 block to Mint Rd. Turn right (east) on Mint Rd. The MMFB building is on the left (north) side of Mint Rd in the first block.
