Grab a Hammer and Help

Extreme Street Makeover is a chance for a Baker-Donora street to have some "TLC" and a fresh look.  Volunteers, residents, property owners, homeowners, city departments, and non-profit organizations will work together during the Extreme Street Makeover to clean up a street and improve the exterior quality of homes.  Painting, siding repair, window replacement, porch repair, driveway maintenance, and landscaping are examples of some of the work to be done.

Volunteer teams are needed to work on repairs and improvements to individual homes.  A team will "adopt a house" and will work along side residents to repair and improve the exterior of the house.  Individuals may also volunteer to help.  Materials and tools are provided by owners or through donations.  At least one team member must attend a one-day training to get basic skills in house painting and minor repair techniques as well as an opportunity to learn more advanced skills in operating power washers and paint spraying equipment.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Quinton Robinson at (517) 485-0613 or robin449@msu.edu or Kathy Longwell at (517) 485-0907.
