RSS XML FeedBackground Active Sep 5, 2008 to Sep 27, 2008

Capital Area United Way's Day of Caring  will take place over two consecutive days: Friday, September 26, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.; and Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Day of Caring is a special event which our community gets the opportunity to experience first-hand the voluntary strength of our community.  It is a day when volunteers, both as individuals and as company representatives, come together to complete projects that benefit people and nonprofit organizations in our community.

This year there are 22 projects to choose from.  We invite workers, retirees, and folks from all walks of life to participate. Projects range from yard work to clerical, priming to painting, and inventorying to organizing. The project sites include:

Autism Society
Black Child and Family Institute
Citizens for Better Care
Clinton County Family Resurce Center
Educational Child Care Center
Ele's Place
Eve, Inc. Shelter
Gateway Community Services
Greater Lansing Housing Coalition
Hannah's House

Loaves and Fishes Shelter
Montessori Children's House
Planned Parenthood

Call Pat Hemingway at(517)203-5022 for a description of the projects. The nonprofit you select to volunteer your time for a day will prove to be invaluable toward making our community a better stronger, and more vibrant and caring place.
