Habitat for Humanity North Central Massachusetts (HFHNCM) is a non-profit Christian ecumenical housing ministry that serves 25 communities in Central Massachusetts. We seek to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Description:
-- We build simple, decent, homes with families in need.
-- We use volunteer labor to keep our homes affordable.
-- We sell homes at no profit to our homeowner partners.
-- We build partnerships with homeowners, volunteers, communities and local supporters.
-- We build locally, and also give to Habitat International to help build in Guatemala and Northern Ireland.
History:
We've built and renovated 19 homes that house more than 40 children and their families in Ayer, Acton, Ashburnham, Fitchburg, Gardner, Groton, Leominster, Littleton, and Townsend.
In 2009, we anticipate working in Fitchburg, Gardner, Lancaster,and Westminster.
A Local Partner Committees in Hudson is fundraising and planning a homes on land recently acquired.

| The lives of families in need are changed forever. Families experience the pride and responsibility of home ownership. Children thrive as they live in secure,well-built homes. Volunteers and donors experience the pride and solidarity of accomplishing worthwhile goals. Neighborhoods are revitalized. Communities benefit from committed new homeowners and an improved tax base. | |

| Cities and towns donate fallow land to Habitat for Humanity NCM and gain much needed tax revenue. Local vocational technical schools use Habitat home building sites as practical curriculum for plumbing, electrical, framing, interior finishing,and cabinetmaking classes. Schools and universities form Habitat for Humanity youth chapters that volunteer to raise funds or build homes. Faith communities share their time and treasure in support of our home building activities and their mission. Corporations underwrite all or large parts of a homebuilding projects or form employee teams to help with construction. Building trades donate in-kind services and building supply companies give discounts on materials. Food and beverage companies provide volunteer refreshments. Manufacturers donate or deeply discount new goods such as appliances, carpets and roofing supplies. | |
