The Animal Shelter Inc. of Sterling, MA is a non-profit organization and no-kill shelter. The shelter provides humane sheltering and care for stray, unwanted, abused and neglected animals. We are dedicated to finding good homes for adoptable pets and we continue to promote responsible pet ownership to improve the quality of life for the animals and people in our community.

Description:
We adopt out approximately 3,500 cats and dogs per year. Our hours of operation are: Tues.-Fri. 11:00am-6:00pm, Sat. 10:00am-4:00pm. We are closed on Sunday and Monday. For adoption guidelines, please see website www.sterlingshelter.org

 Take exit 6 off of Route 190. Laurelwood Rd is on the right and we are about 1 mile down the road.

We are working to eliminate pet overpopulation and euthanasia.

What are major challenges/obstacles your organization faces in trying to meet your mission?
Educating the public.

Have partnerships with nonprofit/forprofit/government helped you to advance your mission?
Yes. We partner with VCA Hospitals. They provide veterinarians to the shelter and we refer customers to them in return.

Key Programs/Title and Description:
Homebound Hounds: puppy rescue effort with SPCA in Virginia. Save A Sato: animal rescue effort with program in Puerto Rico. Seniors for Seniors: animals 5 years and up, no adoption fee to people 65+.

If resources were of no concern, what need would you most like to address?
Being able to help every animal that people call us about.
