East Central District Health Department

The mission of the East Central District Health Department is to complement community health services in order to make a positive difference in the quality of life for all individuals within our service ares. East Central District Health Department services are: Environmental Health, Early Development Network Program, Back to Basics Youth Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, Infectious Disease Surveillance Program, HIV Prevention, HIV counseling Testing and Referral Program, Immunizations/MCH Department, LEARN Program,Minority Health Program, P.A.C.E Program,P.H.O.N.E. Program, Public Health Emergency Response Program,Reproductive Health Clinic,Safe Kids Prairie Valley Chapter, Tobacco Free Program, West Nile Virus Surveillance Program,WIC Program.

Description:
East Central District Health Department has a sister agency the Good Neighbor Community Health Center whose mission is to work in collaboration with the community to increase access to primary preventative health care in order to improve the health of the community , and especially the underserved and vulnerable population. Good Neighbor Community Health Center services are: Primary Medical Clinic, OB/Prenatal Clinic, Behavioral Health Care Clinic, Dental Clinic,Patient Assistance Program

History:
In November 2008 the dreams of some very committed community members became a reality when the state approved Platte Colfax County Health Department. In October 2001 the name change to East Central District Health Department with the addition of Boone county to the service area. In April 2003, ECDHD was awarded Community Health Center status and Good Neighbor Community Health Center was formed. In 2008, ECDHD and GNCHC had 71,053 encounters with the public.
