Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation
The Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation works to promote ways for our community to live compatibly with wildlife.
Description:
The Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is a local conservation group working to promote ways for our community to live compatibly with wildlife. We accomplish our mission through focused, on-the-ground projects and through wildlife education. The philosophy behind our mission is to approach our work in a collaborative, creative, and non-combative manner. Started in 1993, the Jackson Hole Wildlife Foundation is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. Our programs include a multi-faceted roadkill reduction campaign; removal of obsolete barbed wire fencing which poses a hazard to wildlife; power line marking to insure safe flight of swans, raptors, and other large birds; a cavity nesting box project to increase cavity nesting opportunities for species such as bluebirds; wildlife education projects for such things as wildlife “friendly” fencing; and, Bear Wise Jackson Hole, a collaborative program with Wyoming Game and Fish Department to prevent human/bear conflicts. We believe that by correcting certain things we, as humans, have created (obsolete barbed wire fencing, for example) and by doing some things in our daily lives a little differently such as driving more carefully to prevent wildlife collisions or keeping garbage from bears, we can moderate our impact on wildlife and thus, live more compatibly.
