Special Olympics Wyoming

Special Olympics Wyoming provides year round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic type sports for individuals with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with families and other athletes.

Description:
Special Olympics is founded on the belief that people with intellectual disabilities can and do , with proper instruction, learn, enjoy and benefit from participation in individual and team sports. Our vision is to create that opportunity for challenge and personal triumph for athletes, their families, volunteers and our communities. We offer five competitions per year in different locations around Wyoming, including Winter Sports in Jackson, Fall tournament in Casper, golf tournament in Douglas, softball tournament in Casper and Summer games have been held in Laramie, but we are looking for a new venue this year. Special Olympics provides these tournaments at no cost to the families, and truly works with volunteers to make these events possible. We depend on, and appreciate those communities and their volunteers to support our program in many ways from coaching the athletes to cheering them on at events.
